Australian Catholic University (ACU) has been ranked first in Australia and retained its global ranking as the second-best performing university for its ongoing efforts to promote healthy living and wellbeing through world-class research and teaching, according to the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2023.
ACU also ranked 19th out of 960 universities against SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and placed in the Top 100 for SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions). ACU ranked in the top quartile for seven out of the eight SDGs relevant to ACU.
“The high ranking also acknowledges ACU’s commitment to foster thriving communities through our local health collaborations and outreach programs, as well as our supportive campus environments.
“Being recognised as the best in Australia, and among the top three in the world, for our contributions to the global challenges of health, is an excellent achievement for ACU, and further showcases our strength as experts in health and wellbeing.”
Now in its fifth year and including data for more than 1500 universities from 112 nations, THE’s Impact Rankings provides a comparison of universities against the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Sustainability is a key part of the ACU Mission to promote the common good and social justice. The university recognises its responsibility to cut its environmental impact and place sustainability into its decision making, teaching and research.
