Updates to international student obligations

The information applies to all students who require a student visa to study in Australia, including students who do not currently have a student visa.

There are requirements that international students must meet, based on the visa which they hold. These requirements are outlined within the conditions of their visa and by law (Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Framework).

From 30 June 2023, all universities within Australia must return to full compliance with the ESOS Framework. The flexibility that has been available over the past three years due to the impact of COVID-19 restrictions is ending on 30 June.
